CARAFA, GIUSEPPE. De Capella Regis Utriusque Siciliae Et Aliorium Principum. Liber Unus, Roma, Ex Typographia Antonii de Rubeis, 1749.
in 4ยฐ (25x18.5 cm), contemporary limp vellum, title on spine. Title page with engraved vignette, pp. 18 nos. 500 + 5 of Index, decorated initials, headers and finials, genuine example with large margins.
First edition of an important and rare work. This is an interesting treatise dedicated to the prerogatives and privileges regarding the chapels and the palatine clergy in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. The Palatine Chapel is located in the Royal Palace of Palermo, also known as the "Palace of the Normans", being a masterpiece of the period of Norman domination. The Author then describes the building, the foundation, the clergy, the privileges, the rites and liturgies of the Royal Palatine Chapel, as well as the honors that some princes receive in the church by pontifical concession. (Mira I, 174; Narbone I, 285; Dura, 2864; Lozzi, 5018 cites the 1772 edition).
