Musical manuscripts on paper; oblong 4to (215x305 mm); ff. [6], [6], [6], [6]; four gatherings in the original boards covered with pink “mouchetè” paper, very genuine with fitting paper labels on each album (Violino primo, etc, one label missing); preserved into the original pasteboard slipcase, covered with similar paper (colored in green); all the albums in fine condition.
An attractive, contemporary manuscript copy of the Symphony No. 49 in F minor (Hoboken I/49) that was written in 1768 by Joseph Haydn during his Sturm und Drang period. It is popularly known as “La passione” (The Passion). The scoring of the symphony is typical of Haydn in this period: two oboes, bassoon, two horns, and strings.
According to the italian SBN database, there is a manuscript copy in Padova (Public Library) and another in Venice, in Biblioteca Marciana (collezione Canal 11022).
