Important Sicilian silver tureen, Palermo 1770
Height x width x depth: 28 x 34 x 22.5 cm. Weight 2460 g
of oval shape with side handles, resting on four scroll feet, complete with inner container and lid topped with a triumph of pomegranates. Hallmarked under the base and under the container with the mark of the "bulla" of Palermo depicted by a high-flying eagle in use from the 18th century onwards, hallmarks "D, GG 77" , Consul Don Gioachino Carraffa, scarcely legible silversmith's mark and assay mark. Further hallmarked with the import mark in Sweden for silver at the minimum fineness of 830/1000 in use after 1912.
Item condtion grading: **** good, signs of use commensurate with use over time.
