Russian icon depicting the Mother of God joy of all the afflicted, 19th century
Height x width x depth: 35.5 x 27 x 3 cm.
With silver-plated copper oklad; The Virgin is at the center of the scene and around her are portrayed the ''afflicted'' such as: the offended, the naked pilgrims, the hungry, and the sick. The diffusion of this icon experienced considerable fortune from the late 17th century, following a miracle performed by the icon in the Church of the Transfiguration on Ordynka Street in Moscow.
Item condition grading: **** good, minor defects to the oklad.
