Sicilian silver pyxis, Palermo, circa 1780
Height x base diameter: 34.5 x 15 cm. Weight 825 g.
shaped base with vegetal decoration, smooth cup with gilded interior and rich undercup with foliate volutes. Hallmarked with the mark of the 'bulla' of Palermo depicted by a high-flying eagle in use from the 18th century onwards, silversmith and consul unidentified.
Item condition grading: **** good, minor signs of use commensurate with use over time.
