First published in 1690. Jean B. La Quintinie (1624-1688) was a leading horticulturist of the 17th century and director of the royal gardens at Versailles from 1678. In addition to crops and their varieties, soil conditions, garden tools, plant selection and the training of gardeners are also covered.
