Work of the French alchemist GB Penot (1519-1617), a treatise on chemistry, alchemy and medicine often omitted from bibliographies and catalogues despite boasting large sections dedicated to the Philosopher's Stone. Rare original Swiss edition; printed on the frontispiece a woodcut vignette (a circle with a triangle and a square inside, and the motto: Ordo naturae omnia ab uno omnia ad unum); woodcut headers and initials engraved in the text. Browned copy.
