Drunk Bacchus

Plaque rectangular bronze with dark brown patina; 200 x 155 mm.

High relief plaque depicting a drunken Bacchus supported by a satyr and another undefined figure. The classical god holds a bunch of grapes in his right hand and a jug from which he pours wine in his left.

Very decorative subject of which there are replicas with the same theme, but composed in a slightly different way.

Signature engraved lower left, "Clodion". 19th century casting.
