Hand fan, France first half 19th century

Weight: 1410 g
folding fan made with finely pierced bone sticks, enriched with metallic or gilded decorative details. The surface of the fan is hand-painted with great skill, depicting a gallant figurative scene set in a garden or an outdoor landscape, typical of refined European courts.
The central scene is framed by ornamental motifs in neoclassical taste.
The fan is completed by a decorative tassel, which adds a touch of refinement and movement to the object.
The gallant subject and the use of neoclassicism as a decorative element recall the refined aesthetics of 19th-century France.
The workmanship of the pierced bone, as well as the use of hand painting on luxury fans, was typical of French workshops, especially in Paris, which were renowned for these high-quality artifacts intended for the aristocracy and the cultured bourgeoisie.
