Pietà
Oil on panel
cm. 40,5x30. Framed
The painting has been attributed to Ventura Salimbeni by Prof. Marco Ciampolini (email correspondence with the owner).

This fine panel painting closely derives from a celebrated fresco by Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as Il Sodoma, traditionally referred to as the Madonna del Corvo. The original work, now housed within a tabernacle on Via di Stalloreggi in Siena, was originally executed by the artist for the façade of the Mariscotti brothers’ palace in the same city.
