Judith with the Head of Holofernes, after Giovanni Andrea Sirani

Etching, 300 x 208 mm. Counterproof of the plate by Sirani (Bertella, Incisori Bolognesi ed Emiliani…, no. 929) or, according to Bartsch, by the school of Guido Reni (Bartsch XVIII.314.1).

Fine and strong impression on thick laid paper. Sheet with small margins of about 1 mm on three sides, trimmed at the lower edge to the platemark. In very good condition, with some foxing spots. On the verso, collector’s stamp of Bernhard Hausmann (Hanover 1784–1874) (Lugt 377).
