Bronze sculpture depicting Mercury on Pegasus, 19th century

Height x width x depth: 68 x 52 x 28 cm. Base height: 8 cm.
copy of the work by Antoine Coysevox (1640-1720) created in 1701. Refined bronze casting depicting Mercury, god of commerce and messenger of the gods, riding Pegasus, the winged horse symbolizing speed and inspiration. The original model was commissioned by Louis XIV for the Tuileries Garden. Coysevox was the official sculptor of the Sun King.
