A pair of hard stone plaque, Florence, 18th century

Diameter: 16.5 cm. Frame diameter: 23.8 cm. Total weight: 1268 gr
oval in shape, made using the technique of inlaid stonework, combining slate, alabaster, and other hard stones. Both works are framed in large oval black wooden frames with a rounded profile.
One of the panels depicts a river landscape with a large tree dominating the scene. In the background, a fortified village with towers and red roofs can be glimpsed, while in the foreground there is a boat with two figures and a character on the shore.
The other panel presents a hilly scene more focused on architecture: a complex of houses and towers with red roofs stands on a slope rendered with naturally veined stones, while two slender cypress trees define the typically Tuscan landscape. The vegetation in the background, treated with delicacy, contributes to creating depth and harmony in the composition.
