Antique Sicilian solid silver Tazza, Palermo, mid-17th century

Height x diameter: 6.5 x 29 cm. Weight: 605 g
circular in shape. The top is centred by an engraved shield, surrounded by rich decoration with leaf motifs.

Hallmarked with the Palermo ‘bulla’ mark depicting a low-flying eagle, in use before 1715, with the ‘PAOC’ mark of Consul Pietro Antinio Omodeo, documented in the mid-17th century, and with the mark of a silversmith, F.L., who cannot be identified in the current bibliography.
