Ivory spyglass and baton, France, 19th century
Lot comprising an opera telescope and a conductor's baton.

The folding opera telescope, crafted from brass with two sliding extensions, and covered with elephant ivory, features a shaft signed by the renowned Parisian optician Derepas, active at Palais Royal No. 23 during the first half of the 19th century.
The baton, presumably intended for an orchestra conductor, is made of wood covered with dark fabric and embellished with a circular ivory knob and a matching ivory tip, further adorned with silvered metal fittings.
