Silver-mounted porcelain glass, Rome, after 1815
Height x diameter cup: 18.5 x 8 cm. Height x diameter base: 18.5 x 9.5 cm. Weight: 416 g
decorated with polychrome motifs in shades of blue and red, depicting stylised floral elements and traditional ornamental motifs. The glass is mounted to simulate a chalice, thanks to a chiselled silver support. The mount has a circular base with a series of leaf motifs, from which rises a stem embellished with a decorative knot that enriches its line and acts as a connecting point with the cup. The upper part of the stem opens into two ornamental hooks, elegantly shaped with scrolls and floral motifs, which support the glass.
Hallmarked with the chamber mark in use in Rome (Papal States) for silver objects, 10.16 ounces (889/1000), represented by the crossed keys of St. Peter under the liturgical umbrella, after 1815. It also bears the silversmith's mark βRISSOβ.
