A figurative Kirman Laver rug, South Persia, 1910 circa

The “mihrab” prayer niche is decorated with a bird, probably a heron, surrounded by floral ornamentation and accompagnied by a small “simurgh”, the persian mythological bird. The inner field is framed with cartouches with persian poetic verses in “naskh”. Monumental outer border with flower designs and arabescated ornamentation.
Small areas with slightly lower pile.
