A Karabagh long rug, Karabagh area, Caucasus, early 20th ct.
270 x 125 cm
A large, monumental medallion with stepped outlines dominates in red the dark blu field. The medallion and the edges are decorated with geometrized ornaments. Border design with archaic expression that reminds pieces of the Avar region. Several inscriptions, among them a dating 1328= 1910.
Several restorings, especially within the border area and the endings. Pile generally well preserved.
