Circular ornamental marble slab “Dali” with inscription and seal, framed.
This particular variety of marble comes from the southwestern region of Yunnan and is known as Dali, after the city located near the traditional mining centers. These decorative slabs, which adorned the studies of scholars, are also known as "dream stones," due to the unique effects created by the stone's natural veining, which often evoke, as in this case, mountainous landscapes.
