Wall clock designed signed by Francesco Muscitelli, Rome, mid-18th century

Height x width x diameter: 54 x 42 x 21 cm.
Elegant mantel clock in rosewood (Dalbergia spp.), of Italian manufacture, probably Roman, with an ebonized wooden case richly adorned with gilt-bronze mounts and decorations featuring acanthus leaves, rocaille motifs, and scrolled feet. The engraved and silvered brass dial bears at its center the inscription «Francesco Muscitelli, Roma», likely referring to the clockmaker, retailer, or commissioner active in the capital between the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
The movement, with manual winding and striking on the hour and half hour, retains its original key.
The top is surmounted by a gilt-bronze handle with turned finials and a pierced cartouche with volutes.
A work of high artisanal quality, representative of the late Baroque and Neoclassical Roman taste, in good condition with normal signs of age and use.
