Solid silver italian cup, Italy, early 20th century
Height x diameter: 18 x 24 cm. Weight: 775 g.
It is an elegant, classically styled tableware piece, likely intended for decorative use or as a centerpiece.
The bowl has a wide, shallow basin supported by a tall, turned foot. The rim is finely crafted with fluting and ovule motifs, which directly evoke the Greco-Roman-inspired neoclassical repertoire.
The lower section features vertical fluting, interspersed with a band of raised ornamental motifs in a vegetal style and scrolls. On the side, a decorative handle with a foliage motif is visible, almost simulating an attached handle or a centerpiece grip.
The foot is richly molded, with concentric fluted bands and a wide, stable base, also decorated with relief motifs consistent with the rest of the piece.
900/1000 silver, apparently unhallmarked.
