- An inscription (signature) written by the artist 南苹 Shen Quan (1682-1760) also known as Nan Ping, an important Chinese painter of the Qing Dynasty.
- The place where the painting was created. In Jiangxia (present-day Wuhan), during a temporary stay (时在戊申新秋) at the beginning of autumn in the Wushen year (associated with the Earth element and the monkey animal (画于江夏客次Il)).
Provenance: The four panels come from the prestigious Benzoni collection in Milan, one of the most important collections of the twentieth century, which included paintings and drawings by important Italian and foreign artists, as well as a significant group of selected Chinese pieces.
