Kneeling Nymph. Giambologna (Douai 1529, Florence 1608). From the model of. Possibly 17th-18th century. Patinated bronze.

10 x 7 x 5 cm
This exquisite bronze replicates Giambologna's famous model housed in the Bargello National Museum in Florence. Some historians (kneuter) believe this type of composition is based on models made by the artist during his time in Rome, in wax or terracotta, then cast in bronze in Florence.

The bronze statuette has ancient characteristics and suggests a 17th-18th century derivation but, as with all derivations from Giambologna models, dogmatism must be excluded.
To be studied.
