Carved and gilded wooden candlestick from Mecca, Italy, 18th century
Height x width x depth: 197 x 52 x 52 cm
the shaft is richly carved with leaf motifs, pods, flower corollas, and vertical fluting. It rests on an imposing, ornate tripod base that ends in stylized cat-paw feet. It was retrofitted for electrification at a later date.
