The large Chinese funerary vase, covered with a translucent bluish-white glaze such as Qingbai or Yingqing (Jingdezhen ware), is also known as the "Soul Vase" or Zhenmu Guan .
Born from an ancient tradition of funerary objects, these vessels were specifically designed to serve as a spiritual home for the soul of the deceased in the afterlife. The interior space was intended to "house" the spirit of the deceased. The elaborate carvings around the neck served as guardians and guides for the soul's journey.
