Venus and the Rose, after Luca Penni

Engraving, 310 × 220 mm. State with the address of Pietro de’ Nobili and Paolo Graziani and the date 1582. State not described by Lewis in his catalogue of Ghisi’s prints, identifiable as intermediate between the second and third states. Lewis 22; Bartsch XV.400.40.

Very fine impression with light plate tone, printed on laid paper with watermark. Small margins of 1–2 mm beyond the platemark; on the right, trimmed to the platemark in places. In very good condition, except for a few small stains and paper tape residues on the reverse. Framed, glazed and mounted with passe-partout (60 × 50 × 4 cm).
