biography
Giuseppe Rivaroli, born in Cremona on December 8, 1885, and died in Rome in 1943, was a significant Italian painter and decorator of the early 20th century. Coming from a modest family, Rivaroli faced numerous economic hardships in pursuit of his artistic dream. He trained at the Brera Academy in Milan, where he studied under Cesare Tallone and Giuseppe Mentessi, before continuing his studies at the Academy of Parma. His talent earned him the prestigious Fanny Ferrari scholarship, which allowed him to move to Rome to further refine his skills.

In Rome, Rivaroli established himself as one of the leading interpreters of decorative and figurative painting of his time. Among his most famous works are the frescoes he completed in 1928 for the Ministry of the Navy, depicting Rome, as well as other paintings such as "La Vittoria," exhibited at the «Amatori e Cultori» exhibition in Rome in 1922, and the two "Cavalli" (Horses) purchased by the King at the 1930 Mostra dell'Animale nell'Arte. His warm and vibrant palette, combined with a deep understanding of the human figure and a strong decorative sense, set him apart from his contemporaries. Rivaroli also devoted himself to rural subjects, animals, and scenes of everyday life, as evidenced by works such as "Primigi Raggi," "Scena campestre," and "Due cani."

Giuseppe Rivaroli's production has been the subject of numerous appraisals and evaluations by auction houses and galleries, including Bertolami, which has featured his works in various catalogs and auctions. Today, his paintings and drawings are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Italian art for their technical quality and expressive power.
