        The artwork, carved in the round in elephant ivory (Loxodonta africana) depicts a standing St. John the Evangelist, his strong face is glabrous, with a wide jaw, framed by long wavy hair, his right arm on his chest and a long robe.
Ebonised turned wooden base.
Item condition grading: **** good (defects to two fingers of the right hand, a hole on the right side denoting the lack, perhaps, of the gospel).
        	This lot is accompanied by a CITES certificate and is only available for sale with shipments within the European Community.
