Trespassers is an artist collective from Kerala, currently experimenting with a collaborative practice of artmaking.
Describing their practice as a unique coming together of creative thinkers, each artwork is a manifestation of individual ideas that are bound by visual storytelling. In a cyclical method, each member of the Trespassers would paint an image influenced by their environments, instigating the next member to build upon it. A spontaneous process, which brings with it an element of surprise as the artists’ work towards a fortuitous outcome.
Often painting figurative landscapes from their visual diaries with an abundance of colour, murals and canvases alike, follow a nonlinear story where the foreground and background come together to form a dreamscape. The motivation behind not choosing a focal point is to represent the voice of a group of artists, where each image is transformed with incredible detail as layers of paint is applied, leaving the spectator in awe of the artists’ imagination and wonder.
