8vo (cm 20), 3 volumes bound together in a nearly contemporary binding in brown half calf with corners, gilt spine (a bit rubbed) with gold impressions, and title on red morocco label, sprinkled edges, inside a fresh and bright copy. Engraved titles with illustrated architectonical bordures, 2 folding engraved plates of music at end of volume 1. Pp. (16), 256; (2), 224, xliv; (2), 259. (The p. 67 of vol. II with paper fault, no loss). Complete.

First edition, a clean copy. The work contains much information on Turkish letters, and volume 2 contains a description of the libraries of Constantinople and also a catalogue (in Turkish) of the books from the Serraglio library. Volume 3 is devoted to printing in Turkey, and contains the first detailed descriptive account of the output of the printing press established at Constantinople by Ibrahim Muteferrika.
