Bronze with reddish transparent patina
45x50x20 cm
Signed on the neck F. Rudier.
This fine virile portrait represents a bald middle-aged man with a long beard.
The Rudier Foundries were active in France at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries with various locations and alternating members of the family. Francoise Rudier was active from 1877 to 1913 and collaborated with the major sculptors of the time, first of all Auguste Rodin. In fact, the style can be compared to Rodain's portrait of Victor Hugo, created in the foundry of Alexis Rudier.
