 Venetian 17th century with the first Italian version of the severe commentary expressed regarding the consequences of colonization on the local populations by Bartolomé de Las Casas (1474-1566), the Spanish Catholic bishop committed to the defense of the Native Americans; the author was also a witness to the events of Christopher Columbus' last voyage (1502) to the West Indies, of which he transcribed the Logbook of the navigation from Spain to Central America.
