Coronelli, Vincenzo: COSMOGRAPHICAL EPITOME, OR COMPENDIOUS INTRODUCTION TO ASTRONOMY, GEOGRAPHY, & HYDROGRAPHY, FOR THE USE, DILUCATION, AND MANUFACTURE OF SPHERES, GLOBES, PLANISPHERES, ASTROLABS, AND GEOGRAPHICAL TABLES, AND PARTICULARLY OF THE PRINTED MATERIALS, AND EXPLAINED IN PUBLIC LECTURES … Cologne [ie Venice], 1693, at the request of Andrea Poletti in Venice.
        	1 vol., in 8°, cm 20x14,5, p. [44], 420 + 31 illustrated plates. Original rustic cardboard.

Rare first edition of the work that represents the first attempt to condense into a relatively few pages what had been published up to that time on astronomy and geography, practically the prototype of modern manuals of physical, natural and political geography. With 2 frontispieces, one of which is illustrated; like other known copies, this one is also missing some plates; however, the double-page plate with 6 movable parts is preserved. Fresh copy, with slight stains on the last 4 plates, binding with loose internal hinges; on the inside cover, ex-libris handwritten by Leonardo Trissino dated 7 Apr. 1838.
