        GEORG ROTH & Co (1891 - 1919)
        Two German silver baskets, Hanau, late 19th century
        	Oval-shaped basket with side handles, entirely openworked and decorated with geometric motifs and festoons linking oval reserves with half-length male figures; in the centre are three-quarter-length figures of Marie-Louise of Austria and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Stamped with the silver hallmarks in use in Hanau, Germany, towards the end of the 19th century, silversmith Georg Roth & Co. and with the import hallmarks in use in France since 1893.
Height x width x depth: 4.5 x 33 x 20 cm; weight: 340 g.
Circular dish, large flap with floral motifs, with four oval reserves containing scenes from the Old Testament depicting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and the expulsion from Paradise. In the centre, as depicted in the German engraving, the figure of Noah who, after touching down with the ark in the background, makes an offering to God, who appears in the clouds crowned.
