A pair of Nautilus in neoclassical style, late 19th century
Height x width x depth: 61 x 16 x 9 cm.
Two mythological figures in dark patinated bronze, respectively depicting a female figure and a satyr, both characterized by dynamic poses and well-defined, sculpted musculature. Each figure holds with both hands a gilt torch, atop which is mounted a large Nautilus shell (Turbo marmoratus), adorned at the base with gilt bronze acanthus leaves, typical of the Neoclassical decorative vocabulary. The sculptures rest on bases composed of fluted Corinthian-style columns made of marble, with gilt elements and circular marble plinths.
