Burmese solid silver urn, 19th century

This extraordinary silver urn is a ritual and decorative work of art of Burmese origin. Entirely hand-repoussé and finely chased, it is composed of three detachable parts: the pierced base, the cylindrical central body, and the lid crowned by a handle in the shape of a divine figure.
The body of the urn is adorned with a procession of relief figures: mythological beings and animals, typical representations in the iconography of Southeast Asia. The pierced base rests on six curved feet, embellished with floral and geometric motifs interspersed with animal figures, symbolizing protection. The fitted lid is richly decorated with floral patterns and figures from Burmese culture.
At the top, a finely sculpted figure reigns: likely a deity from the Burmese-Hindu pantheon. The figure is richly attired, wearing a conical crown and portrayed in a dynamic, dance-like posture.
