rectangular stone memorial element, probably part of a military monument or memorial stone, dedicated to the Crimean War (1853-1856). The upper part is surmounted by five superimposed spherical elements, probably symbolic, evoking artillery shells, globes or decorative elements typical of 19th-century military trophies. Next to it is a metal shield engraved with the following inscription: βThe Heights Alma - CRIMEA - 79th R.β. This inscription refers to the Battle of the Alma (20 September 1854), one of the most significant battles of the war, fought between the Allied Anglo-French-Ottoman forces and the Russian army. The 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameron Highlanders), a Scottish unit of the British Army took part in this battle.
