Saint Theodore, usually identified as Saint Theodore Stratelates or Saint Theodore Tiron, is depicted in full length at the center of the icon, surrounded by a golden background adorned with elegant stylized vegetal motifs. In Orthodox tradition, the Saint is venerated as a Christian warrior, a symbol of courage and faith. Characterized by curly hair and a thick beard, he wears armor and holds a palm branch, a symbol of martyrdom.
