Solid silver and coconut goblet, Europe, 18th century

Height x diameter: 17 x 9.5 cm. Weight: 320 g.
composed of a silver base and supporting structure on which a coconut is mounted. The silver base is turned and shaped, while the fruit is supported by thin silver bands that hug the curved surface of the nut, firmly connecting it to the base. The upper edge of the bowl is finished with a silver band decorated with shaped motifs. The surface of the coconut features relief engravings depicting human and animal figures, arranged in a narrative or symbolic composition.
