Italian commode cabinet in rosewood and tortoiseshell with painted glass, Louis XIV, Rome, 17th century

double-body cabinet entirely panelled in rosewood (Dalbergia spp) with a fir and walnut structure. The lower part with six drawers arranged in two rows, painted under glass with classical scenes within tortoiseshell frames (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae); the upper part with six drawers arranged symmetrically three by three flanking a central closed compartment, also painted under glass with classical scenes within tortoiseshell frames (hawksbill sea turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata, Cheloniidae).
