rare and striking rosewood carillon cabinet depicting the life of Napoleon Bonaparte. The scene in the picture is theatrical and animated by carved figures: the Emperor lies on a funeral bed covered with black drapes decorated in gold, guarded by a uniformed guard with a rifle. On either side are the initials “N” surrounded by laurel wreaths. On the side, animated figures move during the music of the carillon.
The carillon and the movement of the scene are operated by a winding mechanism.
