Campo Imperatore - Liberazione di Mussolini, 1943

A DFS 230 glider lever found at Campo Imperatore, part of one of the Nazi aircraft that landed on July 12, 1943, to free Mussolini from captivity at Campo Imperatore in Operation Oak. It was flown by German paratroopers of Kurt Student's 2nd Fallschirmjäger Division, which included sixteen men from the SS Security Service (Sicherheitsdienst - SD) under the command of Captain Otto Skorzeny.
The following caption is written in red on the body of the lever: "GLIDE LEVER FROM CAMPO IMPERATORE" - A beautiful testimony to an important historical event of the 20th century.
The lever measures approximately 27 cm at its maximum length.
