Extremely rare original Johnson gadget for the 1933 Decennial Air Cruise, commanded by Italo Balbo.
The Savoia Marchetti SM55X fleet flying around the globe, embossed on a hypothetical metal wing. The planisphere is made of a
golden sphere made of cast aluminum (solid), with the continents, meridians, and parallels embossed. It rests on a heavy, chrome-plated metal cube bearing the plaque: DECENNIAL AIR CRUISE ROME CHICAGO NEW YORK ROME.
In good condition, original from 1933. The structure measures approximately 11 x 14 cm, while the base alone measures approximately 5 x 5 x 3 cm.
