Torch of the VII Winter Olympic Games held in Cortina in 1956.
The torch is made of cast aluminum, designed by Ralph Lavers and manufactured by E.M.I. Factories Ltd, High Dury Alloys Ltd., and is based on the torch used for the London 1948, Melbourne, and Stockholm 1956 Olympics.
(It featured an internal magnesium brazier with interchangeable wicks for a 15-minute burn, which were obviously consumed during the use of the torch itself.)
The words CORTINA 1956 VII WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES are embossed around the brazier.
It measures approximately 47 cm in height. In excellent condition.
