Placca IMPERIALE - Fondazione Impero fascista, 1936
Bronzo
cm.8x12
Bronze plaque commemorating the founding of the Fascist colonial empire, called the IMPERIAL PLAQUE.
At the top corners are the years of the event, numbered according to the Fascist era (13th and 14th).
At the bottom are the start and end dates of the Ethiopian campaignโ3 October 1905 and 9 May 1906โfollowed by the author's italicized signature, E.RUBINO.
At the bottom left is the trademark of the SACCHINI company of Milan.
The graphic representation highlights Rome as a warrior in the top right. On the left are soldiers in colonial uniform, including the Quadrumvir Emilio De Bono, Pietro Badoglio, and Rodolfo Graziani (commander of the southern front of the operations). At the center, Duce Benito Mussolini extends his hand to King Victor Emmanuel III, whose features are rendered unrecognizable and placed in the background compared to the Duce, the true conqueror and founder of the Empire, as a clear message conveyed by this sculpture by Edoardo Rubino.
The plaque is in perfect condition, measuring approximately 8 x 12 cm, and is housed in its original leatherette case with a blue velvet-covered backing, for display.
