A pair of Porcelain Vases, 19th century
Height x diameter: 43 x 21 cm.
Porcelain finely painted in polychrome enamels of the Famille Rose (fencai) palette and inscribed with black calligraphic characters.
Each baluster-shaped vase, with flared rim and pierced bat-shaped handles, is decorated on one side with domestic scenes depicting elegant ladies and children in a garden among flowering trees, rocks and fences, and on the reverse with Chinese poems written in vertical calligraphic script.
The delicate painting style and refined details are characteristic of late Qing dynasty porcelain, likely produced for the educated domestic market.
