important mahogany mantel clock, richly carved and chiseled, with an architectural case topped by a bulbous dome and side pinnacles. Panels decorated with foliage motifs and molded reserves. Gilded brass dial engraved with plant motifs, with Roman numerals and openwork hands; three secondary dials for adjusting the chimes. Signed "Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street, London".

The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company was founded in 1880 by William Gibson and John Lawrence Langman and became one of London's most renowned names in gold, silver, and watchmaking.
The company supplied the British royal family and collaborated with the best watchmakers of the time, producing table and mantel clocks of the highest technical and aesthetic quality.
