Urn-shaped lid inlaid with bone, Northern Italy, 17th century

Height x width x depth: 107.5 x 109.5 x 87 cm.
made of ebonized wood, purple ebony (Dalbergia cearensis, Ducke, 1925), and bone inlay, with phytomorphic and floral motifs, cartouches, and medallions. The front has three drawers and an inlaid drop-down panel, which conceals an internal compartment with small drawers and compartments. The sides are decorated with mirrors. Angel head-shaped vents and contemporary locks.
