Antelope horn, Italy or Germany, early 17th - late 18th century

Height x diameter with base: 69.5 x 10.5 cm. Horn height: 51 cm. Weight: 580 g
mounted as an ornamental element on a circular base in gilded metal.
The base feature a refined leaf motif decoration on the upper part, which is also repeated around the base of the horn, almost framing the natural element with a decorative apparatus that harmoniously integrates it into the whole. The overall effect is that of a collector's item or Wunderkammer, in which nature is ennobled through artistic intervention and precious mounting.
