Antelope horns, Italy or Germany, early 17th - late 18th century

Height x diameter 1: 85 x 10,5 cm. Horn height 1: 65 cm. Height x diameter 2: 87 x 10,5 cm. Horn 2 height: 68 cm
(Oryx leucoryx), mounted as ornamental elements on circular bases in gilded metal.
The bases feature a refined leaf motif decoration on the upper part, which is also repeated around the base of the horns, almost framing the natural element with a decorative apparatus that harmoniously integrates it into the whole. The overall effect is that of a collector's item or Wunderkammer, in which nature is ennobled through artistic intervention and precious mounting.
